HOMELESSNESS IN AMERICA IN SCENE AND STORY

Art is not always about pretty things. It’s about who we are, what happened to us, and how our lives are affected.

A powerful collection of original artwork and stories, ALL THERE IS was designed to bring awareness, inspire empathy, provoke action and to bring power and voice to the homeless in America.

On any given night in America, more than 500,000 people are experiencing homelessness. 70% are individuals living on their own or in the company of other homeless adults. 30% are families with children. The great majority of homeless are men or youth boys, and almost half of the population is unsheltered and living in situations not fit for human beings. (“State of Homelessness Report 2021.” www.endhomelessness.org)

The original artwork of ALL THERE IS was inspired by actual scenes and images photographed by the artist and are composites, not portraits, of these scenes and images. The fictional stories were inspired by the artwork and written from the perspective of the subject by Craig's wife, Kelly Bargabos.

This pairing of visual art with stories and words is intended to bring awareness and power to those who are often invisible. We call this approach Scene and Story and hope that along with awareness and understanding, it will move you to empathy and action.

As you click on each image in this collection, you will find the story that pairs with the painting.

Thank you for joining us in this endeavor of eternal significance.
